Pre-War Pt. 2

Liberty Belle

When we last saw Libby Lawrence, Rick Cannon had helped her escape from Poland to Amsterdam. Then…

…he helped her escape to France, but she arrived just as the country surrendered to Hitler a month later.

Then, one more time, he helped her escape to the United States.

Libby became a darling of the press…

So, an important figure enters the American scene – one fitted by an unequalled athletic record, a keen intellect and a background of perilous experience for a role of leadership. America listens to Libby Lawrence and believes, and girds, to face the inevitable.

In Philadelphia, Libby made a pilgrimage to Independence Hall, the birthplace of democracy…

Libby sewed America’s symbol, the Liberty Bell on her blue sports shirt and donned riding breeches and gloves to become…

Liberty Belle – glamorous new champion of American Freedom!

Captain Nazi

Siegmund Krieger secretly developed a miracle food which he fed to his son, Albrecht, since infancy. It made him strong, agile, and intelligent. Albrecht grew up and went to school at Heidelberg where he was scarred in a duel. Then Hitler came to power and his father introduced him…

Krieger adopted the name “Captain Nazi” and served the Third Reich as a super-powered agent of destruction.

The Grim Ghost

When we last saw the Earl of Strethmere, Keith Everet, he was killed by marauding highwaymen, but his ancestors gave him the power to return to Earth as long as he promised to avenge the evil that men do.

In 1941, Deborah Wallace’s great-great-grand-niece arrived in neutral Ireland with her friend, Charles Collins. They immediately visited Castle Connaught…

Not only were its halls haunted by the spirit of Keith Everet, but it was also being used as a hideout for three Nazi spies who had escaped from England. Charles discovered them and tried to warn Deborah, but was shot and killed.

Inhabiting Collins’ body, Everet took care of the spies, then returned to America with Deborah. As the Gay Ghost, he fought against Axis powers. Later, he became known as the Grim Ghost.
