Green Lantern Corps


Three billion years ago, after the Massacre of Sector 666 and the failure of their Manhunters, the Guardians decided to create another peacekeeping force, this time autonomous. However, not all of them were in agreement. A group that favored a plan for not just containing evil, but for destroying it entirely, left Oa for another universe and became known as the “Controllers.”

(The Controllers had evolved on Oa after the exodus from Maltus. To realize their vision of destroying evil, they would eventually create weapons on their new home planet such as the “Sun-Eater.”)

Adventure Comics #357 (June 1967)

There was a short-lived successor to the Manhunters, an intergalactic police force called “the Halla’s,” that wielded guns channeling energy from the Central Power Battery.

Subsequently, and finally, the Guardians assembled the bravest beings from each sector of space and equipped them with power rings instead of guns. This became known as the Green Lantern Corps.

Remember that the Guardians had imprisoned Parallax within the Central Power Battery on Oa using fear’s opposite energy, willpower. Parallax had lain dormant for billions of years, its true nature hidden by the Guardians to prevent anyone from trying to free it, and…

Green Lantern: Rebirth #3 (Feb. 2005)

About this time, since the Guardians had abandoned all emotion, the women declared that life without love was blasphemy and left Oa. They colonized Zamaron, became known as “the Zamarons,” and explored the violet light of love.
