Nth Metal

You’ll remember that when Perpetua was sealed behind the Source Wall and the multiverse restarted, one of her sons, Alpheus returned to the dark realm where he continued to created new worlds inside his World Forge. Stable worlds ascended to his brother Mar Novu’s “Orrery of Worlds” to become part of the Multiverse. Unstable worlds were destroyed by Alphaeus’s dragon, Barbatos, so their energy could be reused to make other worlds.

Eventually, Alpheus began hearing whispers from his mother, causing him to develop a lust for destruction. This led Barbados, who had served his master through millennia, to rebel and kill him. With nothing to destroy unstable worlds, they were allowed to exist… for a time. They eventually festered and rotted into nothingness with their inhabitants suffering horrible deaths.

This “Dark Multiverse,” also known as the “Nth World”, exists beneath the primary Multiverse…

Batman: The Red Death #1, Nov. 2017

…imagine if your  every fear, each bad decision, gave birth to a malformed world of nightmare. A world that shouldn’t exist. And desperate as it fights to survive in the light of the true Multiverse far above. These worlds are doomed to rot apart, and die, because they are wrong at their core.

Nth Metal is a special metal that originated within the Dark Multiverse and has many properties including gravity-negation/flight, energy transference, cosmic awareness, and portal creation. It is also part of the composition of the Multiverse itself in an inter-dimensional plane called “the Bleed,” that forms barriers between parallel dimensions.

Multiversity #1, Oct. 2014

5,500 years ago, Nth Metal came to Earth when a spaceship from Thanagar, a planet where Nth Metal was common, crashed in ancient Egypt.
