The Endless emerged about the same time as the Lords of Order and the Lords of Chaos, but little is known about their origin. Seven siblings that are physical beings, they are also living embodiments of the cosmic forces by which they are known: Dream, Death, Destiny, Despair, Desire, Delirium, and Destruction.

While they are some of the most powerful beings in the Multiverse, the Endless are different from most gods that spring from mortal beliefs. They rule their respective realms with nearly infinite power, fulfilling their functions. For example, Dream oversees his realm, the Dreaming, while regulating dreams, imagination, and inspiration throughout the multiverse.
It’s been suggested that the Endless have parents: Time, the personification of time itself, and Night, the personification of the endless darkness that existed before the Omniverse was born. However, this may be true only in an abstract sense.
